Cyber Monday Eases the Post-Holiday Blues

Traditions change.  No more post-holiday Monday blues, thanks to the phenomenon of online shopping and Cyber Monday.

Instead of Black Friday (the day immediately after Thanksgiving) being the most profitable day of the year for retailers, the Monday after the holiday has now jumped up in importance.  Apparently ¾ of online retailers experience a jump in sales that day.  This year Cyber Monday is expected to ring up more than $600 million in sales.

Online shopping has evolved since my previous company, which provided online learning or “e-learning.”  At that time, the early 2000s, the biggest and best online retailers were Amazon and eBay.  Now the whole world has changed and there are so many players that we’re seeing lists that name the top 500 internet retailers.  People are either replacing their holiday mall trips or supplementing them significantly with online buying.  And retailers are planning a series of promotions to capitalize on this trend.  There’s even a site, www.cybermonday.com, that consolidates all of the promotions into one-stop shopping.

With only 4 weeks left til the Christmas holiday, it makes sense to go online.  Retailers like iMemories are making it easy for you, with gift cards, streamlined shipping and packaging, and no waiting in store lines.  For safe online shopping tips and suggestions, check out this site.  For more editorial on Cyber Monday, read the article in the USA Today.

The best part of Cyber Monday is that you can shop and eat your holiday leftovers at the same time!
