Veterans Day: A Special Day to Reflect

Our business is all about reflection, preserving memories, and storytelling, and on a special day like Veterans Day, there’s a lot to reflect on and be grateful for.
At iMemories, we see a lot of older home movie films taken overseas by American veterans – countryside shots, Bob Hope and young girls in go-go boots entertaining GIs, special people they met as part of their surreal experience abroad. The footage is valuable and historic – shot by people who were actually there. And it’s in 16mm, 8mm, or Super 8 formats, depending on the decade it was filmed. With today’s digital devices, our military servicemen and women have access to immediate raw video they can e-mail to their families. Prior to the 1990s, that connection and immediacy were non-existent.
We capture those moments so that the veteran and his or her friends and family can watch and think about what their sacrifice meant then, and what it still means today. Here’s our way of sharing some of those special home movies with you this Veterans Day — a nostalgic, online video that showcases a few of these authentic motion pictures.
To all of our veterans – we thank you sincerely and want you to know how grateful we are for your contribution to our liberty and our freedom.
